Who We Are

Susan Harris is a seasoned healthcare executive with 40 plus years of experience across a broad spectrum of the healthcare industry. In May of 1995, she co-founded Innovative Management Alternatives, LLC (IMA) alongside the late Elizabeth B. Maddry, driven by a shared vision to restore a client-focused approach in an industry increasingly centered on stockholder returns. Their goal was to build an organization grounded in exceptional service, operational excellence, and measurable client success.

Prior to founding IMA, Susan served as a regional Vice President for a national medical billing and practice management company. In this role, she oversaw client service, operations, accounts receivable management, budgeting, cash flow, profitability, and client service for more than 140 physicians across multiple specialties. Her leadership and strategic insight helped drive operational efficiency and financial performance at scale.

Susan’s expertise spans an extensive range of medical specialties, including radiology, emergency medicine, urgent care, pathology, hospital medicine, critical care, neurology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, geriatrics, maternal fetal medicine, dermatology, anesthesiology, general and vascular surgery, hand surgery, radiation oncology, internal medicine, cardiology, reproductive medicine, pain management, mental health and nursing facility providers.

She has been actively involved in industry organizations throughout her career, serving as a past advisor to the Reimbursement Committee of the Virginia Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians. She is also a current member of the Healthcare Billing & Management Association, the Radiology Business Management Association, and the Urgent Care Association.
